The crucial phase...

After the Canberra 24, after Around the Bay... we are finally entering the most crucial stage of the road to Ironman. Lots of specific training needed here. I have benefitted largely from the cycling of the past 2 weeks. Feeling a bit shit from coming home late last night, and as a result not riding as originally plnned this morning. Now i have to string together a long training day (tomorrow) to simulate race conditions as closely as possible.

I will head out and attempt to cover 200km on the bike, then return and carry through with a 1:45 run (i am thinking of paulling a negative split session here (a time trial over the last 10km), just to shock the body into adapting better). Finish off with a good stretch and a relaxing hour's paddle on the Yarra, then collapse in a heap at a good eatery in town and stuff my face with some good food.

For today, i will just pull off a not-too-long interval swim session, not more than an hour's worth - just to stay fresh for tomorrow.

Yeah, five weekends more before IMWA. Got a race next weekend, so that leaves 3 more weeks of solid training stuff, and the start of the taper on the last weekend. I'm pretty happy with the swimming (3 times a week now), as long as i fit more ocean swims in before the race itself.

Should i work up to a 250km ride again? I should really be getting with my time trial programme for running, as well as keep the mileage building consistent (72 km by the end of the last weekend before the race).

Oh this is fun!!!
