'12 hours in the saddle' done... What's next?

As above....

Next up is the Upper Murray Challenge. Think i can manage as good a placing as the 12 Hour Enduro? My only hope is that i don't add 'swimming' to the present list of disciplines i have to undertake for this event!!!

My apologies: I have not been updating regularly, what with the assignments and the recovery and the screwed up sleep schedule and what not...

I want to go the the World Champs!

Man, i just realised that the AR World Championships fall in middle of Nov.... Is that after all my papers (including one which has to be deferred)?? It will be cool to see all the world's best teams going head-to-head in the classic terrain - LOTR land - and in the classic race - The Southern Traverse. My bet is that the NZ and European teams, particularly Balance Vector and Cross, Nokia & Saab Salomon, will be fighting for first place. I don't see how last year's champions Nike might be able to pull off a repeat win unless they can stave off injuries and get a really firm team relationsip in place with that elusive female team member. They've swapped out their leading ladies a couple of times throughout the season, and that is worrying. Nontheless i'm eyeing their performance, even though it i'm not sure that Ian Adamson will be racing. And where's Danelle?!?! She dabbled with some Xterra this year apparently, finished not too badly too.

My money is on Balance Vector anyway... really, really strong team, especially the Richard Ussher + Kristina Anglem combo, both of them being the 2005 C2C Longest Day winners. Plus, Nathan has fixed his heart problem, so the whole team should be good to go (rumoured 4th member is either Haydn Key or Aaron Prince), barring injury or illness. I am also keeping a look out for Montrail as the underdog team in this event. So far they've notched up some top finishes over the present season (that, and the fact that i've met 3 of their key team members in person!).

Man, i wish that Steve Gurney was still racing AR, and of course THE LEGENDARY John Howard (not the Aussie PM, mind you). Is it time for the next generation to fill their shoes? AR is getting a lot of new blood particularly from MTB (Jimena Florit) and Xterra (Jamie Whitmore).
